Thomas Hynes joined the CURE Board in September 2008. He is the head of Institutional Sales and New Product Development for Mesirow Financial’s Investment Management department, where he manages a team of ten professionals responsible for distributing the firm’s investment management capabilities. Prior to his current position, Hynes worked as an associate and vice president in Mesirow Financial’s private equity investment division.

Hynes’s passion for CURE’s mission stems from the struggles that his best friend from high school, Philip Doran, has had to endure due to epilepsy. Phil contracted encephalitis at the age of 17, and has suffered from uncontrollable seizures ever since.

Hynes graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago Law School, received an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management, and completed his BA with honors from the University of Notre Dame.

Hynes resides in Chicago with his wife Carol Jones and their three children, David, Benjamin, and Anna.

CURE is a non-profit organization founded by mothers of children with epilepsy who joined forces to spearhead the search for a cure.
